New members Hal and Renate Herritt
Renate was born and educated near Cologne, Germany. When her father retired, the family moved to Breisach am Rhein near Freiburg. It was a paradise for her, with hiking, skiing, friends and a good job near the Black Forest. In 1969, she visited Munich for the first time to attend the Oktoberfest and there she met Hal.
Hal was raised in central Pennsylvania where everyone hunted and fished. He attended Penn State and graduated in 1961 as an Aerospace Engineer and then was hired by General Dynamics in San Diego. They were married in 1970 and began life together in San Diego where they raised two boys. Renate retired from UCSD in 2005 and Hal from Lockheed Martin in Denver in 1999.
Renate works on church activities, enjoys novels, Sudoku, and get-togethers with friends. Hal loves fly fishing, action novels, hiking, and Sudoku.
We have done a lot of travel in Europe where we have friends and her cousins in Germany. We have done home-exchanges in Hawaii; Victoria, B.C.; Narbonne, France; Marbella and Madrid, Spain; and Freiburg and Munich in Germany. We look forward to travels with Friendship Force.
